Good value for a first-time buyer

This was my first time trying an eSIM for travel, and I went with Kite Mobi for a trip to Japan. I got the Japan Data eSIM. I was looking for something affordable and easy, and this fit the bill. The price was competitive compared to what I saw from other providers, and I managed to use a first-purchase discount code which made it even better. The installation was simple, and the data worked perfectly throughout my trip. I didn't need to top up, which saved me hassle. For the money, it felt like a very smart choice and I saved a good bit versus my usual carrier's roaming fees. Definitely worth it for budget-conscious travelers.

Reliable for travel, some minor issues

I used the Europe Data Plan for a two-week vacation, and it was mostly good. Getting the eSIM was easy and the activation process was clear. The data speeds were decent for browsing and video calls. I appreciated not having to swap physical SIMs. My main gripe was that the coverage in a few rural areas was a bit spotty, which I guess is to be expected, but it was noticeable. Also, while topping up was possible, I found the interface for that wasn't as intuitive as the initial purchase. Customer service was helpful when I asked about my remaining data, so that was a plus. It's a solid service, but there's room for improvement on the user interface for existing plans.

Good Global Data eSIM

I purchased the Global Data eSIM for a trip through Europe and Asia last month. The ordering process on the website was straightforward; I just selected the plan and entered my details. Installation of the eSIM was also simple enough following their instructions, it probably took about 5 minutes to get it set up on my iPhone. Connectivity was generally strong, I got 4G in most places and even 5G in some major cities. I did have a small issue with activation in one country, but their support chat was responsive within about 15 minutes and helped me troubleshoot it quickly. The data speeds were reliable for navigation and messaging. Overall, it worked as expected for my travel needs.

If I buy an eSIM for like, a week in the US, what happens if I run out of data before the week is up? Do I just lose connection or can I add more?

A Ashley 1 week ago
You can top it up directly in their app. It's usually pretty quick to add more data.

Yeah, it doesn't just cut you off completely. You can definitely top up your data. I had to do it once when I underestimated how much I'd use, and it was easy enough to do.

hey, was looking at Kite Mobi for my trip to Japan next month. does it actually work with 5G over there? or is it just 4G mostly?

M Matt B. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I used it in Japan last fall and got 5G in the cities. Was pretty quick.

I think it depends on your phone and the local network in Japan. Mine mostly stayed on 4G in some rural spots but 5G was definitely available in Tokyo and Kyoto.

how does this compare to Airalo? seems pretty similar but maybe cheaper?

D Donna M. 1 month ago
I've used both. Kite Mobi felt a bit easier to set up for me, and the data bundles were often slightly cheaper for the same amount of data in some regions. Performance was pretty much on par though.

Airalo has more options in some countries but Kite Mobi's prices are usually better, especially for multi-country plans. I haven't noticed much difference in speed myself.

Thinking of trying Kite Mobi for an upcoming European trip. Are there any discounts for first-time users or like, a referral code floating around?

B Barbara Lopez 6 days ago
Usually, there's a first-purchase discount, or you can find referral codes. I got 10% off my first order just from a pop-up on their site.

Yeah, check around, sometimes people share referral codes on travel blogs. I think I got like $5 off my first one that way.

Can I use Kite Mobi and still keep my regular phone number active? Like, for calls and texts back home while using their data?

A Amanda Mitchell 4 weeks ago
Yep, that's how it works. Your primary SIM stays active for calls/texts, and the eSIM handles the data. Just gotta make sure your phone supports dual SIM/eSIM.

Definitely. I used my regular number for WhatsApp calls and everything while my Kite Mobi eSIM was doing all the data heavy lifting. It's pretty seamless.
